Many of us have used a special event Denver photo booth at a bat mitzvah, prom, or graduation party. It could have been brought to the wedding of your best friend, or even to a business conference. You may also have seen a photo cabin in a nightclub, or at the last music festival you have been to. Today, you may find them pretty much everywhere, and their popularity is quite high.
In 1925, appeared the first modern photo cabin and, as far as technology is concerned, we have come a long way ever since. For 25 cents, you could make and print 8 photos! It was an invention that truly captivated everyone, even if it took about 10 minutes to complete the whole process and have your photos. In the early years of the photo cabin, as a benefit to the customers, a post box was also placed next to it. People used to receive a stamped envelope and mail the pictures immediately, wherever they wanted. Almost like Instagram, if we may say so...
In 1990, Photo-Me began to promote color digital photography, using a computer and a printer, which made possible a faster photo development process. The photo booth also knew a period of decline, when it was used mostly for taking pictures for ID cards, passports and car licenses. However, it could not stay too long in the shadow, being far too valuable.
The name of the first cabin in the US was Bosco Automat. Then came Photo-Mecanique, Automatic Photograph Machine and Photomaton Studio.
